There are times in life when you feel like whatever you are doing, something is waiting for you to ruin your day. Obstacles that come from all directions and try to knock you down if you do your best to get to the next day. Maybe they are big, disturbing and scary. Perhaps there are a lot of little things that can just as easily harm you. Something could seemingly come out of nowhere and simply damaged your entire being. This is the atmosphere of 2020 Disc Room, an anxious ball of energy in the form of a 2D action game. But as scary as it may seem, Disc Room is also a game that will finally encourage you to accept frequent failures and learn to appreciate small achievements that will help you move forward.
A giant disc-shaped object has appeared above Jupiter, This is what the introductory text of Disc Room tells you, and as a charming little space person, your goal is to explore a maze that turns out to be a maze filled with many deadly rooms. In each room there is a unique examination with many rotating circular saws that pressurized to cut them, which will happen more often than you can keep track of.
This is a thrilling Action game that focuses only on the most thrilling element of ball striking games: trying to avoid a ridiculous number of projectiles. The disk space focuses on difficulties and puts you in panic situations, with a creative variety of aggressive enemy disks. Each presents a specific behavior, but none follows a predetermined path, which makes even the relatively simple steps harmfully unpredictable and difficult every time. The reality of Disc Room is the one where you are trapped in a room with more than a dozen jumping deadly blades, where the dark electro smacks continuously and where expired can occur in less than a second.
Most of the challenge s in the game, which allow you to go through the maze once completed, challenge you to avoid expired for at least a while. But it’s hard to leave. Surviving 10 seconds before dying is usually a good effort that is worth moving forward; 20 seconds is a remarkable feat that deserves the equivalent of the game of a gold star. Nor will you reach these milestones over and over again. They are frequently hacked into a small puddle of cartoonish blood before they can take stock of the situation, and they will jump out of their chair and scream when they finally manage to reach that tenth second after not breaking nine for so long. These seemingly insignificant achievements are more rewarding because it is difficult to avoid expired. But Disc Room also manages to create a certain value and a sense of accomplishment around his expired. You will quickly find that dying for certain enemies rewards you with unique abilities that help you stay alive (crashing, slowing down and Cloning, among others). In addition, another key to unlock more routes through the map dies on each of the many discs in the game. They can be terrible at a certain stage, but Disc Room will often have other ways to help you progress while continuing to improve your ability.
The excitement of the near-misses, the struggle to survive and make sure that their causes of expired are complete are enough to propel them through the first hour or so, changes in the biomes after disrupting the conditions to count the clock. For example, at certain stages you need to stay in a certain area or collect gold balls to add seconds to the timer. More intriguing, however, is the Disc Room Puzzle level, which finally reveals itself. Some spaces require a mixture of Afterall thinking and creative use of ability to achieve goals. Trying to discover more records to die for after becomes a more confusing challenge . On some occasions, you get cryptic targets that you can decrypt yourself (for example, ????? that?????) and offers some pleasant possibilities for delicate Eureka moments.
But Disc Room is still primarily a Twitch game that requires intense concentration, split-second reactions and skillful maneuvers. The user experience of the game fits perfectly with this – the restart after expired is instantaneous, and teleporting to the other side of the maze to bang your head against another challenge for a while takes a few seconds. It’s a rapid-fire grinder full of action-packed moves, where 30 seconds of white-knuckle gameplay can feel like an hour and the achievements are hard to achieve, but all the more fulfilling for that. The minimal time commitment and the fact that another run only takes a few seconds of your time push you to keep reappearing and trying to improve your last attempt over and over again. Also, if you are inclined to a determined competitive series – The former GameSpot editor Peter Brown accidentally motivated me to spend a lot more time at certain stages, long after I had achieved all the goals.
Fortunately, Disc Room also offers various difficulty settings that allow you to change the speed of enemies, harmful and other aids, the objectives of the game changing accordingly. On the other hand, once you have reached through the first exams and obtained the credits, a second, more difficult maze of stages is unlocked. While the stage conditions persist, the Puzzle elements of the game have largely disappeared in favor of pure survival in even more difficult conditions-even 10 seconds of life is an important achievement here, and the path through the hard mode continues to offer new doses of the energetic feeling that you get from winning battles
